2021 art and design awards
& HSC Visual Arts and Design Exhibition
This year, Blue Mountains Grammar School celebrates the 21st year of our prestigious Art and Design Awards. The awards acknowledge innovative and creative excellence in works produced by our students in Visual Arts, Industrial Technology (Timber) and Design and Technology.
This year's exhibition can be viewed online in our Virtual Tour. Be inspired by the works of students in Years 7 to 12 across a range of mediums and disciplines including drawing, painting, pottery, sculpture, engineering, 3D printing, CAD, timberwork, jewellery design, furniture production, video production and much more.
The students of 2021 have navigated some incredible challenges over the last two years of the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite lockdowns and remote learning constraints, the resulting works are exceptional and are a testament to the creativity and resilience of these students.
We would like to publicly acknowledge Dr Ken Marshall for the generous donation of $100,000 that will be invested to specifically enable a perpetual Art and Design Exhibition, with student prize money and medallions to continue on into the future. The ongoing legacy of Dr Marshall’s sponsorship celebrates and encourages creativity in the students at Blue Mountains Grammar School. It has been wonderful to have a member of our local community so deeply engaged and supportive over the ongoing period of 20 years.
We would also like to acknowledge and thank Steven Patterson the CEO of Derivan Art Supplies for the generous contribution the company makes each year by donating Art Prizes for BMGS students. All paints used at BMGS and art kits are purchased from Derivan as the quality of their paint is outstanding. The company is 100% Australian owned and values sustainability, employing environmentally-sound practices in both the products and production.
